What is Leaping Bunny Certified, and Why do People Put This on Their Products?

Leaping Bunny is a Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals. This is a pledge that cosmetic, personal care, and/or household product companies can make. They pledge to clear animal testing from all stages of their product development.

The company’s ingredient suppliers make the same pledge and the result is a product guaranteed to be 100% free of new animal testing. This is an important distinction. Almost all raw materials have been tested on animals at some point. This is to guarantee their safety for human and animal application.

The Leaping Bunny programme’s aim is for no further animal testing after a fixed cut-off date.  Non-animal testing alternatives have been developed within the EU for cosmetic finished products.

How Does It Work?

Adherence to the Leaping Bunny standard is shown on-pack by displaying the Leaping Bunny symbol. A one-time fee is payable, based on a sliding scale to license the leaping bunny logo for use on-pack. The manufacturer of your products can request an administration feed if they have to register on your behalf.

Suppliers of each ingredient must be contacted for a written declaration of conformity. This can take time if the supplier is an ingredient distributor as declarations may be required from source.  All Leaping Bunny registered products are listed in the Compassionate Shopping Guide.
