Regularly giving your vehicle a proper clean not only makes it look good but also goes some way to protecting your vehicles outer shell which is impacted throughout the seasons by driving and weather conditions. As a team we have extensive experience of working within the Automotive and Maintenance sectors to develop both professional and consumer vehicle care products, a selection of which are now available for private label. We have worked to formulate a comprehensive range of exterior cleaning products that cover all aspects of the vehicle cleaning process.
Start Where it's Worst:
When cleaning your vehicle always start with the dirtiest areas first. Not only do they take the longest time, but by doing this you wont spread dirt to areas that you have already cleaned. A top tip is to start with the wheels first. Wheels are subjected to the dirt and traffic film from the roads and its users, as well as the iron oxide that comes off your brake pads when you stop. As the dirt compacts over a period and heating and cooling, it can be difficult to remove. We have formulated our Alloy wheel cleaner to be sprayed on and then left to be easily rinsed off using a pressure washer. Our strong professional strength wheel cleaner removes all forms of stubborn contamination whilst maintaining an easy-to-use format.
On to the Bodywork:
Moving up to the bodywork its always advisable to give everything a good rinse to make the job easier. Use a traffic film remover diluted through a pressure washer or apply by hand and bucket starting at the top of the vehicle and allow the product to drain down the bodywork. Traffic film removers are designed to penetrate the grease, dirt, and grime by reducing the surface tension of the soiling. They're are formulated to remove stubborn soiling that a standard car shampoo won't shift. Traffic film removers do this by the inclusion of surfactants, solvents, and strong alkalis components. For normal vehicle use TFRs are only required infrequently however for vehicles doing more mileage e.g., haulers or commercial vehicles they will form part of your normal cleaning routine. Do not use TFRs on hot paintwork (cars in the sun) and always rinse off traffic film removers with clean water to prevent paintwork damage. Its worth noting that you may need a stronger or more specialised product if you’re trying to remove something more stubborn like tar, flies or natural residues (e.g Tar and glue remover, Bird Dropping Remover).
The Wash Down:
Once you have removed the worst of the soiling you can proceed to wash your vehicle with either a car shampoo or a wash and wax product. We stock both as part of our private label range. Wash and wax product’s can be applied efficiently through pressure washer systems however car shampoos achieve a better finish when applied by hand. Both products are designed to penetrate remaining soiling and to leave the vehicle after rinsing with a water beading and high gloss finish.
Washing your vehicle can leave windows with water spots or streaking that need to be removed using a glass cleaner. Our formulation is free from alcohol and ammonia but maintains rapid drying credentials and achieves a streak free finish. Before application dry the windows with a clean microfibre clothing and then apply the glass cleaner. Work in long strokes from left to right working down the window.
After the vehicle has dried, you can proceed to detailing using several products including bumper and trim gels, wheel rubber restorers and a range of polishes.
